Kind (unedited) Word from My Student's Parents:
"Coach Decker teaches more than just basketball; he develops game mindset and poise. Beyond the usual shooting and dribbling drills you get with most basketball training, Scott tailors training and developments your child’s strengths while working on their weaknesses. Your child will learn to set reasonable goals for themselves and enjoy basketball on a physical and mental level. In a short period of time I have noticed rapid growth with my child as his game IQ increases and he converts Coach Decker’s lessons into real game experiences." -Parent of the best player on the 7th grade boys team & AAU team starter
"We are extremely grateful for the impact Coach Scott has had on our daughter’s basketball journey. Since she started training with him, we’ve seen tremendous growth in not only her fundamental skills and basketball IQ, but also in her overall confidence. He does a great job of breaking down the game in a way that connects with players. His attention to detail, consistent encouragement, and constructive feedback have helped her better understand the game and believe in her abilities on the court. Over this time, one thing that has stood out the most to us is his genuine support of the athletes he trains. He invests in them both as players and as individuals. Our daughter looks forward to every session and has enjoyed having him as her coach. We highly recommend Coach Scott to anyone looking to elevate their game while training in a positive, safe, and supportive environment!" -Parent of a 7th grade girls team bench player
"Coach Scott has a wonderful way of explaining the game in terms that make sense for a young player. He breaks down each step so that every lesson is clear and successful. His consistent positivity and encouragement creates a warm, supportive environment where players feel confident to try new skills and grow both on and off the court. We've seen our player grow so much with Scott's support!" -Parent of an All-Star 3rd grade AAU player
I greatly appreciate the kind words that the families of my success stories have chosen to share above but the the truth is that I have also failed - because I'm human and I make mistakes.
I have failed to recognized that a child wasn't really interested in basketball and was only attending lessons because their parents wanted them to. I thought I could help an Autistic child improve his basketball skills; I could not.
Coaching is teaching and teaching is hard. Every student has a different personality, motivations, and goals.
Some students aren't a good fit for our program and that's why I offer a first lesson for free. But if you child truly wants to be a better basketball player and is willing to put in the work, I guarantee I will be able to help them accomplish that goal.
